    And I can personally attest to the benefits of trusting the Word of God to help me in times of uncertainty.

    But did you know the acronym for fear?

    “future events appearing real” – it’s not actually true, it has the appearance in our mind that it is- but it’s yet to happen.

    When I lose sight of this and forget that I have the answers, I am just like those who followed Jesus and yet witnessed great and mighty miracles He did only to forget this because trouble came.

    Instead of remembering the promises of Gods word, I get fixated on the problems in my life.

    Check out this example in John 6:15-21 Jesus walks on water.

    Do we understand why He did this?

    The men in the boat were in need of help and are focused on the problem at hand, but Jesus walks up.

    This is my take away, He showed them He was always near, and yet they forgot to ask for help from Him.

    They lost sight of what they just experienced at the hands of Jesus, He fed five thousand with five little loaves of bread and two small fish. John 6:9

    They forgot who they belonged to, they were focused on their problems not their miracle working Savior.

    I’m guilty of this, all of us are but the next time if we would stop with our self doubt and the fear – and instead pray for help – it could be as easy as Him walking up. But no matter know we are never alone, He is always near.

    We must not lose sight every time things go side ways. Problems are a part of life but in this life we have a helper, His name is Jesus.

    Instead of living on shaky ground – remember our Salvation is Jesus, He is the rock on which we stand.

    And that friends is how we don’t lose sight, we focus on The One who walked on water.

  • feed on the Word

    It’s said “you can’t walk forward looking back” and while this is true I can’t help but look over my shoulder at how I used to live.

    Deceit; envy; lying and foul language was something which held me back for years as a young adult. It caused all kinds of drama and mistrust. Romans 8:5

    So I can say with certainty that getting rid of this type of living gave room for me to experience more goodness.

    My motivation is to not go back in darkness but live in the light of God’s living Word ~ which abides forever. 1 Peter 1:23

    When His Word at first was preached to me and it begin to transform my understanding, reaching me where nothing else could. It sounded like a sermon on Grace. <Video link>

    So reading the Word of God eventually became a daily habit.

    At first I’d read it to try and find out what I needed to do or what it was saying about me.

    Then I realized I was going about it all wrong, it was a love story about Him and all that He has done to save us. John 3:16-17

    It was His Word that called me to truth and clean living.

    To letting go of bitterness and shame.

    No more looking to be better then others but instead praying for them, as He did. John 17:20

    No looking for acceptance in others because Jesus accepted me, even with all my imperfections He became my new habit.

    His Word fed my soul and it changed my thinking.

    Every misplaced longing for love and acceptance was met by His Word. He showed me what it means to have loyalty and serve others as He did. He changed me, it was Him working out my salvation in me. Eph 2:10

    And then He served me the best news; I was forgiven and loved forever.

    He has taught me to stay close and feed on His Word daily.

    It grows you spiritually strong and when you feed on the Word of God ~ you will find out how good God really is!

  • on the well lit path

    The question is perfect for today’s, study of the Word.

    I started a new “word study” today : Abide.

    It’s the only way to remain on “the vine / branch“

    Having previously written about this study I’ve linked them for you. I hope you will take a minute to read them.

    As I read on the word abide in Job 24:13 I opened up to the full context and Job was talking about the violence on the earth.

    It’s much like today’s times, nothing new under the sun as some say and since sin exist in the world, there are those who rebel against the light.

    “They do not know it’s ways nor abide in its path.” as Job said.

    Everyone who practices evil hates the light and does not come to the light because their deeds would be exposed.

    My thoughts immediately go to the times I’ve asked others if they’d like a bible study or even attend an evangelist series to learn about the light in this dark world. Every time I hear “I’m good” ~ it saddens me to think they would rather walk on the an unlit path.

    It’s not productive – it’s counterproductive.

    In 1 Corinth 15:10 says it is ONLY by the grace of God in Christ Jesus and His Holy Spirit, that am I able to stand on the truth of His Word in correcting me, teaching me His ways.

    Only by His great love am I able to hear that I have been evil.

    Just as evil and lost, as those who don’t want to be told that their human natures are evil, even in choosing to not come to the light and be changed.

    Friends, this change will only happen when we abide in the power of God’s love for us.

    Psalms 119:105
